When the disorder is due to vitiation of Vata dosha, herbs like Gokshura, Punarnava, Mishri, Guggulu and Shilajit are useful in the treatment.
Prostate problems of pitta vitiation
When the prostate problems are caused by pitta vitiation, the treatment involves using cooling herbs such as Punarnava and Ushir. Marshmallow and barley an also be used.
Prostate problems of kapha vitiation
Guggulu and Shilajit are the herbs used in combination with the spices like ginger, turmeric and cinnamon. Juniper berries may also be prescribed in many cases.
Ayurvedic Treatments For Prostrate Enlargement
Chandraprabha Vati and Shilajit are the most effective Ayurvedic medicines for curing prostate gland enlargement. In mild cases Chandraprabha Vati tablets are available over the counter. It is recommended to take 2 pills twice daily with a cup of warm milk. This should be continued at least for six months even after the symptoms have vanished.
Shilajit is the most common Ayurvedic medicine drug for this condition. Shilajit has a property that generates heat within the body. Patients living in cold regions can consume it up to three times a day. It is advisable for people living in hot climates should consume it in smaller doses. When mixed with milk it loses its heating effect and works as a rejuvenator and aphrodisiac. The recommended dosage is half a teaspoon of the medicine to be taken with milk at bed time.
Diet Recommendation for prostrate enlargement
The daily food intake of patients suffering from prostate enlargement should consist of ginger, asafetida, milk, butter and ghee made from cow’s milk. Fried and sour food items should be avoided.
