Endometriosis is a disorder of the female reproductive system. The tissue lining the uterus thickens in preparation to form a covering for the fetus. If conception does not occur the lining known as the endometirum gets expelled through the vagina and this process is known as menstruation. When the tissue is formed outside the uterus the condition is known as Endometriosis. The tissue is formed outside the uterus in places like the fallopian tubes, or attached to the ovaries, ligaments, external surface of the small and large intestine, bladder or the colon. It usually occurs during the menstrual cycle and stops with menopause.
Symptoms of Endometriosis
The menstrual period may be severely painful, with tenderness and swelling in the abdomen or may be accompanied by severe pain in the lower back.
Causes of Endometriosis
Endometriosis may be caused by allergies from food, fever, weak immune system, obesity, irregular periods or hereditary factors. It may be caused by the accumulation of toxins in the body.
Ayurvedic remedies for Endometriosis
Ayurveda is an Indian traditional medical system used in for over centuries. In Ayurveda Endometriosis is categorized as the vata disorder. Vata imbalance occurs when there is accumulation of toxins known as Ama in the body. The purpose of Ayurveda treatment is to correct the dosha imbalance through medicines and natural processes. This improves the self healing power of the body.
The methods used in the treatment of Endometriosis are detoxification, diet, herbal medicine, massage using medicated oils and yoga. Home Remedies for Endometriosis
There are some effective home remedies for endometriosis.
To relieve the pain in the abdomen, a heating pad or an ice piece should be placed on the lower abdomen. Foods rich in Vitamin B like wheat, grains and salads made of raw vegetables are recommended. Meat, spicy foods and dairy products should be avoided as they cause aggravation of endometriosis.
