Electrolysis-A Permanent Hair Removal Option

This method of permanent hair removal is quite different from laser hair removal. Under this process, a needle transfers electric current onto the hair follicles which destroys it and prevents it from allowing any hair from growing.

While laser hair removal can work only for those who have dark hair, electrolysis can be opted for by anybody- those with light hair can also use electrolysis for the purpose of permanent hair removal. The texture of the hair is irrelevant as well. The skin after electrolysis is smooth.

The first electrolysis treatment destroys those hair follicles that produce fine hairs. Therefore, people who have fine hair will need to sit for a few sessions only. On the other hand, those who have coarse and thick hair will be required to go through a number of sessions and treatments. These treatments can therefore last for a long duration, the maximum being one hour. The location of the unwanted hair also plays and important part.

A large number of people believe that just because a needle is being inserted into the skin, there will be maximum pain. However, this is not true and a large number of people suffer from mild discomfort. As these sessions are short and not that painful, teamed with comfortable, a large number of people opt for this method over laser hair removal.

An important side effect of electrolysis for permanent facial hair removal is that the surrounding skin may suffer from redness. However, this mild side effect disappears after a short period of time and is not serious at all. One may also notice the development of scabs, ingrown hairs and extremely dry skin. Those who have extremely sensitive skin may also suffer from extreme sun burns immediately after the treatment is over. Therefore, applying adequate sunscreen and staying indoors for as long as possible is recommended to avoid further problems.

The needle that is inserted into the skin so that the hair follicles are damaged makes sure that the tissues as well as the hair follicles prevent the hair from re-growing. The currents that are transferred retard the growth by making the follicle extremely weak.

The following are the method of electrolysis

Galvanic- Under this method of electrolysis, the current that is passed through the needles transfers lye to the hair follicle, allowing the surrounding cells and tissues to get destroyed.

Thermolysis- Heat along with the electric current is transferred from the needle to the hair follicle to completely destroy the hair follicle and make sure that it does not produce any hair.

Blend- This technique combines the methods of Thermolysis and Galvanic for superior results.
The method that is best suited for your hair type and skin type depends is deduced by the professional who comes to the conclusion after careful evaluation and analysis.

Electrolysis can be carried out on any part of the body and can be opted for by anybody- irrespective of the hair color or skin type. Electrolysis can be carried out on legs, chest, underarms, bikini area, face, eyebrows and even back.

If the hair is thick and course, the treatments will add up so that the follicle can be destroyed completely. As the technique involves electric current and even heat, carrying it out on certain body parts such as the ears, nose and other parts that involve heavy pigmentation is not recommended as this can lead to further problems.

Even though in most cases, electrolysis ensures that the hair does not grow back, sometimes it may. Despite this small factor, electrolysis is considered to be the best method for hair removal and is considered to be superior when compared to laser hair removal. Side effects include mild pain during the process even though soothing gels as well as anesthesia can ease the pain. There may also be considerable damage to the surrounding skin which can lead to further skin problems such as permanent scarring and rashes. Due to this, infections may also occur.

The possibility of the occurrence of such side effects is rare but they must be kept in mind at the client must be aware before he begins the procedure. A doctor must always be consulted so that allergies can be kept at bay.
