Endometriosis and Fertility

Endometriosis is a gynecological condition as a result of endometrial cells that grown on outside of uterus. The endometrial cells are found inside uterus and are shed every month during menstrual cycle. Generally these endometrial cells are attached to tissue on outer side of uterus and they are referred to as endometriosis implants. These kinds of implants are found on ovaries, outer surface of intestines, fallopian tubes and surface lining pelvic cavity.

The endometriosis cells are found even on cervix, bladder and vagina. Very rarely they are found on outside pelvis, on liver, in or around brain or lungs and on surgical scars. These endometrial implants would cause several health problems and they aren’t cancerous. This gynecological condition is more prevalent in women’s who are in reproductive years.
 
According to medical resources the Endometriosis has approximately affected more than one million women’s only in America. Endometriosis is the reason for pelvic pain and leading cause for hysterectomy and laparoscopic surgery. In United States of America the woman’s aged between 25 to 35 years are at a higher risk of developing Endometriosis. But this medical situation is very rare amongst postmenopausal women.
 
There are various reasons for fertility declination especially in women’s. Most of the time infertility is due to hormonal and anatomic factors. Endometriosis would involve tissues or adhesions located in pelvis, would disturb anatomical structures like fallopian tubes that transfer eggs from ovaries. Alternately the endometriosis would affect women’s fertility by producing hormones or other substance that might have an adverse impact on ovulation, egg fertilization and embryo implantation. Hence the infertility can be related with endometriosis in women’s and in addition they are prone to other forms of disease.
 
Some of the women’s have endometriosis but without any symptoms or signs. Such women’s would be diagnosed for endometriosis, only when they are undergoing tests for fertility or others. The common symptoms of this condition are misdiagnosed even by experienced doctors for other health issues. Endometriosis most common symptoms are as follows:
  • Pelvic pain
  • Menstrual cramps
  • Severe pain during intercourse
  • Painful orgasms
  • Pain before or after menstrual cycles
  • Irregular or heavy bleeding during menstrual cycle
  • Constipation and diarrhea
  • Pain during bowel movements
  • Infertility
  • Nausea, vomiting and bloating
  • Pain in lower back
  • Frequent pain in bladder
  • Fatigue
  • Head aches
Millions of women around the world would experience severe pain as a result of endometriosis. But the symptoms would vary from one to another women depending upon age, lifestyle and other factors. The severity in pain experienced by women is not an indicator for level of endometriosis present. So it’s better advised for women’s suffering from above mentioned symptoms to consult doctors at the earliest. The doctor would provide necessary help and treatment for endometriosis there by relieving the women from pain. By undergoing the endometriosis treatments a women can enhance her fertility.
 
A women suffering from moderate or mild endometriosis will be conceive easily and endometriosis doesn’t any role in conception. But the conception would take little longer. At the same time it’s evident that endometriosis is more common in infertile women’s. Generally it is estimated that more than 70% of women suffering from mild or moderate endometriosis would be able to conceive with in a time period of 3 years without undergoing any kind of fertility treatments.
