Home Remedies for Back Pain

In most cases, the people experiencing backpain feel it either at the middle of the back or lower down. It may also spread to both sides of the waist and the hips. This makes the patient bedridden and unable to move. Sedentary living habits, wrong postures in sitting, working and sleeping, emotional stress and hazardous work patterns are the causes that contribute to occurrence of backaches. As the back bears the entire body weight, overweight people feel more strain on the back when they have to carry an extra load.

 

Causes of Back Pain    

 

1. Arthritis is a chronic condition with pain in the joints

 

2. Muscular tension, straining of the joints, continuous lifting of heavy weights

 

3. Adopting poor posture for work sleep etc.

 

 

4. Kidney or prostate problems

 

5. Influenza

 

6. Lack of exercise

 

7. Obesity restricts normal movement of the body and leads to back pain

 

8. Sleeping on hard surfaces and mattresses

 

9. Pregnancy and Menstrual Period

1. Pain at the lower part of the back (lumbosacral)

2. Pain at the back of the leg

Home Remedies for Back Pain

 

Back pain can be cured largely by exercising daily. There are various home remedies which can be used effectively to get relief from back pain. Some of them are mentioned as following:

 

1. Take herbal medication made by mixing 3 grams of khas khas grass with 3 grams sugar candy two times a day, with a glass of milk

 

2. Take 1 teaspoon of glucose or honey with warm water, in the morning, on an unfilled stomach

 

3. Fomentation with hot water is beneficial in relieving the pain. You can use a hot water bottle or an infrared lamp. This would give immediate relief from the ache

 

4. Massaging with turpentine oil will give relief from backache

 

5. Avoid sitting in same stance for long. Also, keep away from fine cushioned seats.

 

6. Rest on simple and rigid mattress with folded knee at correct angles.

 

7. Practising yogic Asanas such as Bhujangasana, Shalabhasana, Halasana, Uttanpadasana and Shavasana are sure fire ways to cure back pain

 

 

8. Take two or three cloves of raw garlic every morning.

 

9. Take regular massage from an oil prepared from garlic for 15 days, to get great relief. The oil is prepared by frying ten cloves of garlic in 60 ml of mustard oil. Sesame oil and coconut oil. After the oil has cooled, it should be applied vigorously on the back, and allowed to remain there for three hours.

 

10. Vitamin C helps in treating severe back aches. Vitamin C should be included in the diet every day.

 

11. Eat salads of raw vegetables and plenty of fruits.

 

12. Avoid fatty and spicy foods. Processed foods should also be avoided.

 

13. Avoid caffeine products like tea and coffee.

 

14. Make sure to use correct body postures and movements while walking, sitting or doing any form of activity
