Home Remedy for Acid Reflux

 

Acid Reflux is also known as Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). In this disease, the lower esophageal sphincter relaxes and allows for the flow of harsh stomach juices back into the esophagus. It gives a burning sensation in the esophagus and pain in the chest and sometimes in the neck, throat angle of jaw also. It has its association with the regurgitation of gastric acid. It can affect the quality of life of most of the people because of the percentage of the discomfort associated with the disease. The esophagi present in the lining of esophagus can be damaged by the acids resulting in the narrowing of esophagus and ulceration of the area. It makes swallowing of food very difficult.

 

 Causes of Acid Reflux

 

1. Partial digestion of food in the stomach by the stomach acids and enzymes

 

2. Overeating causes the stomach to be overloaded with food and acids ultimately leading to acid reflux

 

3. Hasty eating

 

4. Pressures in the abdominal region because of obesity or pregnancy pushes the contents of the stomach back to the throat

 

5. Delayed stomach emptying

 

 

6. People suffering from Achalasia are also prone to this disease

 

7. Drinking alcohol, smoking are prime reasons contributing to this disease

 

8. Chocolates and caffeine

 

9. Even table salt can increase the chances of this disease by 70%

 

10. Usage of anti depressants and sedatives

13. Drinking excessive quantity of soda and carbonated beverages

 

14. Hormonal changes during pregnancy

Symptoms of Acid Reflux

 

1. Vomiting of sour undigested food

 

2. Burning sensation in the middle of chest or throat

 

3. Chest pain

 

 

4. Difficulty in swallowing of food

 

5. Dental erosion

 

6. Bitter taste in the mouth

 

7. Wheezing

 

8. Asthmatic attacks

11. Regurgitation of acid into the mouth when bending down or due to overeating

Home Remedy for Acid Reflux

 

1. Aloe Vera is a very good supplement for the people suffering from this disease. It gives relief from the burning sensations and should be taken several times a day. 

 

2. Tea is like a poison for people for such people and they should stay far away from tea.

 

3. Have cloves after every meal so decrease the amount of acids present in the stomach.

 

4. Mix ½ teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water and keep drinking this water continuously having dinner.

 

5. Chamomile or fennel tea is also is a good home remedy for curing acid reflux. Take it in small sips and avoid gulping down. It should be at moderate temperature no too hot or cold.

 

6. Boil ½ cup of distilled water and add to it equal amounts of lavender and aniseed (which forms a teaspoon). Let the mixture sit for 3-5 minutes then strain and drink it. This content should be taken in the quantity of 8 oz every morning and evening to get quick relief from acid reflux.

 

7. Have a lot many vegetables and containing roughage.

 

8. Garlic is the best remedy for all diseases including acid reflux. Add garlic as a part of the cooked food on an everyday basis or they can also have raw garlic.

 

9. Chewing a sugarless chewing gum is also effective in alleviating acid reflux. It stimulates the production of saliva which helps dilutes the stomach acids and also washed down foods from the esophagus into the stomach. 

 

 

10. Water should be taken continuously so as to dilute the acidic contents present in the stomach.

Another good home remedy for acid reflux is to mix powdered caraway seeds mixed in lemon juice and water.

 

11. Organic apples are effective in curing heartburn. After every meal eat an apple to get relief from acid reflux. 

 

12. Intake of almonds also gives soothing effects as a home remedy for acid reflux. Chew almonds well as it is known to be a miracle treatment for acid reflux.

 

13. For immediate relief from acid reflux or heartburn take a glass of skim milk. 

 

14. A piece of ginger can be chewed after every meal to avoid getting acid reflux. Candied ginger can also be used to make tea as it is a good home remedy for acid reflux.

 

15. Grind equal quantity of cumin seeds, coriander seeds and sugar candy. Take 2 teaspoon of this mixture with cool water twice daily in the morning and evening after meals. This is very effective in giving relief from acidity.

 

16. Chew half a teaspoon of fennel seeds after every meal.

 

17. Eat light foods such as rice, green gram and vegetables like ridge gourd, bottle gourd etc. 

Consume plenty of green coriander leaves along with food as it is beneficial in the cure of acid reflux.

 

18. To completely cure acid reflex take half a teaspoon of a mixture of black pepper powder and powdered rock salt with water after food in the morning and evening.
