How To Eat Slowly To Eat Less

You may have a terrible hunger and start the next bite before the previous one has gone into your stomach. This way of eating may satiate your appetite quickly as you are eating more, but it is not going to give good results. Hasty eating or fast eating can result in indigestion mostly. It may cause gastric problems in your stomach. The food you are ingesting speedily is deprived of sufficient amount of saliva. Therefore, to avoid problems of this kind, you should know how to eat slowly to eat less. Try to relish thoroughly the taste of food you are eating. For this, you should chew the food properly. Particularly, when the food is dry, it needs more chewing. Your stomach starts producing acids for digestion when you just put some food into your mouth. The dry food may get stuck in the esophagus if you do not chew it thoroughly. This causes the acids in the stomach to act on the stomach itself until it receives the food through the food pipe. This paves the way for heartburn also as overeating increases the pressure in the stomach and food reflux takes place. To get rid of such difficulties, you should chew the food until it comes to the form of pulp with the help of saliva in your mouth.  

If you consider eating slowly, you might eat less, especially if weight gain is your problem. To achieve slow eating, you should keep the food in your mouth for sufficient time by chewing it properly. You can take small amounts of food for chewing. As this takes time, your total quantum of food will certainly be reduced. You can take food frequently if your hunger is not subsiding, but avoid taking large meals. It is also not etiquette to keep your mouth full of food and talk! Think of this and desist putting a large quantity into your mouth. Moreover, a big volume of food in your mouth will not allow you to chew it properly. 
 
You should understand hunger in its real sense. Hunger needs some food to be ingested inside. Any food is acceptable to the stomach and it does not require large quantities to be swallowed for satiety. Also, you should stop eating when you are satisfied, and not after dumping the stomach to its full capacity. Your brain requires 20 minutes to get the satiety signal. If you realize these facts you will eat slowly. 
 
If you feel hungry between meals, try to get satisfied by taking healthy snacks and not heavy food items. You need not starve, but you eat less when you eat healthy snacks. When compared to unhealthy junk foods, eating healthy snacks will take more time for eating, and so, you now eat slowly to eat less. This will also make you less hungry during meal times and you can then eat less only. 
 
Nutritionists are of the opinion that having many small meals is better than having a few big meals. Your stomach will not stretch if you eat slowly as you eat less. Give more importance to relishing the taste of the food you eat than completing a huge quantity of food hastily. This will make you to eat slowly, to eat less.
