How to Overcome Emotional Eating

Eating is a part of an individual’s life. A human body gets the nutrition from the food we eat. There are times when we overdo with our habits of eating, hence this result in increased weight. One of the main crimes committed with food is emotional eating.

Emotional eating problem might end with the scale, but initiates in the mind. Each one of us has bad days and good days in life. Emotional eating mainly comes into scene when we are dealing with the bad days. 

Given below are few ways to overcome the emotional eating and they are

  1. First is using the food diary. You should write down everything you are consuming in your food diary and also what feeling you had when eating those foods. This will help you in finding the pattern of the food. One of the most essential steps to overcome the emotional eating is awareness.
  2. Second is to go for therapy, you can either go for a professional help or self-help. If you have emotions that are unresolved like fear, anger, self-esteem or guilt, then you should consider going for a therapy to resolve the problem. Most of the dieters find hypnotherapy and hypnosis as strong therapies to clear the emotional baggage and other issues, as well. You can also go for self-hypnosis that helps in re-programming your sub-conscious with strong beliefs. The other therapy, which is quite helpful, is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to recondition the behavior of eating.
  3. Third is getting organized by simply organizing the environment, as sometimes   cluttered office or home might lead to cluttered thinking.  
  4. Last is setting your goals, this will help you in planning for achieving and moving from a hope to tangible intention. You should also change the distracters, like instead of having a food item it is better to try knitting or involving yourself into some other activity that will easily distract you.
