Make up Foundation for Dry Skin

Foundation is the basis of makeup that plays an important role in making a face beautiful. Foundation is used to even out the skin tone and hide imperfections. It is the most important aspect of any makeup in both men and women. There are a variety of foundation packs available in the market to choose from. However, the choice will depend on the cost and skin type. There are separate foundation packs for different skin types such as dry, oily, acne prone, dark, fair etc. These products vary in their ingredients which suits best to the skin type they are specifically manufactured for.

 

A dry skin is the one which is lacks moisture content and have a rough look on the face. There are various reasons which make the skin dry. Age and the environment are two important reasons that overtime triggers the production of sebum by sebaceous glands within the dermis layer. The sebum, act as a body’s natural moisturizer. There absence has a diminishing impact on the skin’s ability to retain moisture. As moisture escapes, skin becomes drier. Other causes of dry skin include arid, windy and dry climates, use of harsh soaps and detergents or continuous exposure to sunlight.

 

The Following are Few Tips for Choosing and Applying a Foundation on Dry Skin

 

1. In case of Dry skin, one should always prefer for a foundation which is oil-based. Such products are readily available in the market and come with terminology such as, "hydrating", "nourishing", and "moisturizing" in their names. These foundation products contain alpha hydroxyl, lactic acids, petroleum, lanolin and glycerin which make the skin softer by infusing moisture. They provide full coverage on the face can stay longer helping the skin look fresh longer.

 

2. Foundation on dry skin should be applied with fingers. Use small amount and aim for overall coverage to keep the face looking fresh and healthy.

 

3. Before applying the foundation, one should take care that the face should be cleaned thoroughly using a mild facial wash along with a moisturizing cream. This not only helps in applying the foundation easily but also helps in smoothing of the foundation.

 

4. Foundation products containing alcohol should be avoided as alcohol further dries the skin.

 

5. Use a Concealer if necessary of a lighter shade than your skin and matches your skin tone as it can help hide the appearance of dark circles under the eyes or red blemishes.

 

6. Regular massaging with essential oils like chamomile, hyssop, patchouli, rose and sandalwood are especially recommended for those having dry skin. These oils help in providing the skin with the extra moisture it always needs.
