Makeup for Blue Eyes

Blue eyes occur across Caucasian and Scandinavian ethnic groups and also in some parts of Asia. Paired with blonde, red and dark hair, blue eyes are found in a variety of shades ranging from lightest blue to almost black, midnight blue. Correct selection of eyeliner and eye shadow is the key to accentuate the beauty of blue eyes. This involves a strong eyebrow, a prominent eyelash line and use of subtle colors in makeup.

Essentials for Eye Makeup

1. Base Coat Eye-shadow Cream (usually white)

2. Three shades of Powdered Eye-shadow

3. Eye-shadow Brush

4. Pencil Eyeliner (Smoky Gray, Khaki Gray or Taupe)

5. Pencil Sponge

6. Mascara

7. Cotton swabs

8. Shimmer eye shadow

9. Eyelash curler

Eye Shadow

Eye shadow colours that go well with blue eyes are contrast shades- Brown, Grey, Tan, Copper, Violet, and Lilac. For evening make up shades of silver and gold look glamorous on blue eyes. Blue eyes often have green or gold flecks in the iris. Corresponding green and golden shades of eye shadow bring out these highlights.

Eye Liner

Darker shades of eyeliner accentuate blue eyes. Shades of black and brown look good on blue eyes. Avoid blue eyeliner as it dulls the eye colour.

Brown and black shades gel well with blue eyes. Mascara in green or dark blue shades are used for dramatic eyes.

Make up Procedure

Clean and moisten the eye area. Shape the eyebrows and darken them with a light or dark brown eyebrow pencil. Black eyebrows do not go well with blonde hair and blue eyes. Apply eye base under the eyes and in the area between the eyelids and the brow bone. Use a medium shade of eye shadow over the eyelid till the brow bone and a dark shade in the outer corner of the eyelid. To brighten the eye, dab shimmer over the inner corner of the eye. Line the upper eyelids in a dark shade of eyeliner. Curl eyelashes with an eye lash curler. Apply mascara to the upper lashes. A second coat must be applied over the outer eye lashes so that they appear thicker. For evening wear, team black eyeliner with a kohl pencil to line the upper eyelids. Smudge with a cotton swab for smoky eyes.

To accentuate the contour and color of blue eyes a few ground rules need to be followed. The correct color of eye make up makes for a pair of gorgeous eyes. When paired with light skin and hair, light shades of blue eyes appear washed out. In order to accentuate the eyes, dark shades of eye make up should be used. Dark blue eyes need subtle shades, so the eyes do not draw attention away from the face.
