Managing Different C Section Scar

The C section scar is there in every woman’s body that has undergone C- section. If you plan to have elective c section, then you should ask the doctor about the size of the scar. The doctor may not be able to tell you exactly about the size of C section scar.

The position of the c section will also have an effect on the size of scar. If there was need for doing C section in emergency, then also the size of the scar will be different. When doing the operation a surgeon will need to make an incision through the stomach wall. It is generally done horizontally near the bikini line. The incision is generally 4 to 6 inches long. Many times a delivery has to be done at that time only and in such cases a vertical incision is also done.

The size of the C section scar and the way it recovers and appears in the future will also depend on how the sizes of the incision are sewn together. Some doctors use staples while others use suture for stitching the cut. It is not known whether the size of the scar will increase or decrease. The scar generally becomes lighter with time and fades away.

The scars do fade away, but you have to take full care of it. There are many points you have to keep in mind after your C section surgery so that the scars fade away.

The first thing that you have to do is that you should try not to bend, entwine or else injure the wound until it has completely healed over. If you overstretch the wound while the skin is trying to knit back jointly will only lead to pain and more scar tissue to be created. It will make the bigger and defeat the purpose of the stretching in the first place.

The time when the skin is still healing keep the wound clean and dry. It will help to have a healthy wound and there won’t be any infection in it. While cleaning the wound, you should sponge it gently so that it does not aggravate the wound and the surrounding tissues

Keep a check on your scar. You should check it at least one a day. If you are not able to do it yourself, then let someone else do it. If there is any heat, pain or any type of discharge should be taken care of properly.

After the wound is healed, you should apply cream or recommended scar oil over it. You should massage it gently with a recommended skin oil will make the scar fade away. You should do it only when the wound has healed properly.

Taking a few steps to take good care of the wound would help you in minimizing the scar from the C section. Proper care of the wound will let you wear the bikini within a very less span of time. It will also make you wonder why you were so frightened of the scar. The only thing is that you have to take proper care of it. Do as the doctor has advised and after some time you won’t notice the scar.
