Some may be true and with wisdom, whereas the others are just blind faiths that were passed from one generation to the other.

Eating for 2: Is the common notion regarding pregnancy. Your elderly relatives will insist you to eat large portions which imply that you need to eat for two. But which is just a blind belief, you just need to follow a balanced diet routine which encompasses all necessary minerals and vitamins in required proportion. But do stay away from stuffing yourself with twice the quantity which you usually consume. If you have a balanced diet, then you need not be worried about your baby.
Perfect excuse by eating what you like: This in fact is true, eating what you like with no worries about calories is indeed a catchy notion regarding pregnancy. Even though you like eating what you like, make sure you follow a balanced diet routine by eating what you do not like to have. For instance, if you like having spicy foods, then neutralize it with either pulses or plain curd. Similarly, in case you are a sweet lover then balance it with foods that are salty or neutral.
You can’t be beautiful by being fatter: Pregnancy being the time when women put on weight, there exist a notion that gaining those extra calories brings down the beauty you had. Owing to the hormonal-changes experienced by your body along with the joy of a life growing within you, your face starts to glow. Apart from the initial calories you have to carry weight of another life which can make you look even more stunning.
Ultrasounds harm baby: You would have heard from elders that ultrasounds indeed as a harmful affect on your baby, which is not factual. Ultrasounds are radiations that penetrate within your womb and by getting the pictures of unborn baby of yours is the best means to explore whether foetus develops normally or does it have any complications. In fact nothing can cause harm to your baby, since they are enclosed within a water-bag that protects baby.
Ditch your skirts and jeans: This is indeed a common notion among Indians although this trend is taking a fast change. You need not become fashion-disaster through your maturity. Several western outfits exist from which you need to choose from. In case you like attiring yourself with tops and jeans, then opt for maternity jeans that are elastic and have a soft-cloth to snug your tummy. Team this up with a T-shirt, a shirt or a loose-kurti.           
Wear just flats abandon the dreams of attiring heeled ones: There exists a scientific motive behind this. Since, during pregnancy cycle your back has enough pressure to tolerate with and attiring heeled slippers just adds to the existing pressure. Along with this, in advanced stages of pregnancy you cannot view your bulging tummy, thereby; there exist falling and tripping possibilities which is in no way a pleasant one for you nor your baby.
