The physical symptoms that a person with high blood pressure will have are often shrugged underneath the carpet thinking that they are the natural remnants of everyday life. Hence, not many people pay any attention to them and continue with their life as they would normally. Once these mild symptoms are ignored they will sprout in the form of a major illness such as a fatal heart attack, a stroke from which recovery is long and tedious. Even in the US, almost one out of every three adults have hypertension, probably without being aware of it. Hypertension is known as the silent killer hence the symptoms aren’t something that will stare you in the face but rely on your intuition and get yourself to the doctor for a check-up if you have any of these.
The thing about hypertension symptoms are that they are mild or in some cases might not be there at all.
- The first symptom that one can have of a high blood pressure is a nose bleed. Earlier, doctors even without the use of a blood pressure checking system relied on nose-bleeds to let them know of high blood pressure particularly if there is no other nasal disease. Even today, nose bleeds are a sure shot sign to watch out for where hypertension is concerned.
- The next symptom to watch out for is dizziness. Low blood supply to the back of the brain results in dizziness. However, dizziness could also be due to other factors. If dizziness persists you should check yourself for hypertension as soon as possible.
- In case you have a persistent ringing noise in your ear it could be hypertension. In the case of people working in places with high noise levels this might be overlooked as an occupational hazard rather than hypertension.
- If you have sudden change in the way you are able to see things or your vision is blurred it is linked with low supply of blood to the nerves near the eye due to high blood pressure
- Another thing to watch out for persistent headaches without any particular reason behind them. Usually, people tend to take headaches lightly as a part and parcel of everyday life. But, behind the headache could be your body sending you signals, about you being hypertensive. Persistent, constant and headaches that don’t leave your side need to be checked for.
- Nausea and decreased physical endurance levels could indicate an underlying heart ailment which could be a result of hypertension.
However, the best way to find out about hypertension is to get yourself to the doctor as soon as you have any niggling doubts about your health. Hypertension is not known without any particular cause to be a silent killer. It can damage your vital organs irreversibly and leave you maimed for life. That is if you are lucky to escape a fatal attack. There have been plenty of people who have brushed aside the first symptoms and so forth to have regretted it. People who do not know of being hypertensive continue to eat food that is not suited for them.
