Pregnancy Week 30

Size Of Baby During Thirtieth Week

On the thirtieth week of pregnancy, the weight of the baby is approximately three pounds and its size is fifteen and half inches. The amount of amniotic fluid will start to decrease in your body as the baby requires more space and it can be acquired only when the quantity of amniotic fluid in your belly decreases.

Discomfort Sleeping During Pregnancy

Feeling tired is the most common complaint amongst women during the thirtieth week of pregnancy. This happens because the progesterone level in the body increases this time and also because women find it difficult to get proper sleep due to the increasing size of the belly as well. If you feel uncomfortable when you try to sleep then this is the right time to invest some money on a body pillow so that you can sleep comfortably. Many women find it difficult to shift positions in the bed. This problem can be overcome by getting some silk sheets so that you can easily shift positions.

Delivery Pain Relief Options

These days a lot of options are available for relieving the pain that occurs during the time of delivery. It is imperative to understand the options that will be suitable for you before the time of delivery so that you can inform your doctor in advance. And if certain options are not suitable for you then the doctor can advice some different kind of pain relief options for you. If you opt for natural birth then no pain relief options will be administered for you. People who choose the option of natural birth mainly rely on the usage of breathing techniques and meditation in order to reduce the intensity of the pain that is experienced during the time of delivery. Many women ask for pain relief options in the later stage, as the pain gets very intense during the natural birth. Analgesics like butorphanol, nalbuphine, etc are also used for pain relief. These can be either injected into the buttocks or can be given intravenously during the time of delivery. These medications will have their effect for a period of one to six hours. These are not given during the last phase of the labor, when the pain gets too severe as it can have an adverse effect on the baby. It can cause drowsiness in the baby (after birth) and sometimes it can lead to problems in respiration as well.

Pudendal block is another option which is used for pain relief. This type of medication is generally injected straight into the vaginal walls, just sometime before the delivery. The effect of this medication lasts for a maximum period of one hour. Epidural is touted as the most common option that is used for pain relief during the time of delivery. Epidural is also given during the time of caesarean delivery. Epidural is generally injected into an area called the dura. Dura is basically an area which envelops the spinal cord. Decrease in the blood pressure or shivering is the most common response that women experience after the injection of epidural.
