Symptoms Of Skin Cancer

The skin cancer is a medical condition that has been found to develop on the areas of the skin which are exposed to sun. These areas may include scalp, face, lips, ears, neck, chest, arms, legs, etc. However it may occur in other areas which are not even exposed to sun and where the exposure to sunlight is actually bare minimum. These include areas such as palms, area beneath the fingernails, spaces between the toes and the genital area. Skin cancer is capable of affecting the people with any type of skin tone that is whether one has a fair complexion or a dark complexion, one can suffer from skin cancer and skin cancer symptoms may be manifested. Melanoma in dark skinned people is generally found to occur in the areas which are generally not exposed to sun and the condition is generally validated by skin cancer symptoms.

The most significant type of symptom amongst all the skin cancer symptoms is the development and appearance of a cancerous skin lesion which can either appear suddenly or it may even develop slowly.

The most common form of skin cancer type is basal cell carcinoma. It can be more easily treated than the various other forms of cancer. The most common skin cancer symptoms associated with basal cell carcinoma include a pearly or waxy bump on your face, ears or neck. Another type of skin cancer symptom associated with this form of cancer is the appearance of a flat, flesh-colored or brown scar-like lesion on your chest or back.



Another type of skin cancer is squamous cell carcinoma. It is possible to treat this type of cancer if it is detected timely. However, skin cancer symptoms associated with this type of cancer are likely to spread faster than the other types of cancers. The most common skin cancer symptoms associated with this type of cancer include the appearance of a firm, red nodule on your face, lips, ears, neck, hands or arms. Melanoma is also a type of skin cancer and it has been identified as one of the most serious type of skin cancer. It can occur either on the normal skin or one of the existing moles on the body may itself turn malignant. The skin cancer symptoms associated with this type of cancer are normally seen on the trunk, head or neck of the affected individuals. This type of cancer has been found to be associated with skin cancer symptoms on the arms and legs in women. The different skin cancer symptoms which may appear as warning signs in case of melanoma include appearance of a large brownish spot with darker speckles located anywhere on your body, a simple mole located anywhere on your body that changes in color, size or feel or that bleeds, a small lesion with an irregular border and red, white, blue or blue-black spots on your trunk or limbs, shiny, firm, dome-shaped bumps located anywhere on your body. The various skin cancer symptoms associated with melanoma may also appear in the form of dark lesions on your palms, soles, fingertips and toes, or on mucous membranes lining your mouth, vagina and anus.

 

There are yet other forms of skin cancers such as Kaposi sarcoma. This is a rare condition and has been found to have symptoms like appearance of red or purple patches on the skin or mucous membranes. It is rare but it is a very serious form of cancer.

Merkel cell carcinoma is another type of skin cancer and it has been found to be associated with skin cancer symptoms such as appearance of shiny nodules which occur on or just beneath the skin and in hair follicles. It generally occurs in the areas which are generally exposed to sun.
