Treating Heart Burn

Heart burn is mainly caused by certain type of foods that are consumed by us. There are many ways for treating heart burn and the easiest way is to regulate the quantity of meals as most of the times heart burn is caused due to over eating. There are certain types of foods such as fruits consisting of citric acid, coffee, chocolate, ice cream, etc needs to be avoided if you are suffering from heart burn as such foods can simply aggravate the problem. After identifying the foods which causes heart burn, one can start to avoid them in order to halt the development of heart burn. One easy way of finding out the foods which can cause heart burn, is to maintain a diary, wherein you can make a note of the foods which gives rise to heart burn, so that you can avoid them in the future. 

Besides the nature of the food that is consumed by a person, there can be several other reasons due to which, heart burn can surface. 

Several medicines are available for treating heart burn but before using any of them, it is advisable to consult a doctor and get a prescribed medicine for your specific condition. If the medication, which is prescribed by your doctor, does not work well, then you need to consult him again so that he can give you other medications which are a bit stronger in nature. People suffering from heart burn are often recommended not to eat or drink anything for three hours prior to going to bed. It takes around three hours for the stomach to drain out the remnants of food that was last consumed by you. 

Reducing the stress levels from your life can also help in treating heart burn. Through smoking, the acid production in the stomach can get propelled and hence one should stay away from it. Relying more on raw vegetables and small meals is the key for treating heart burn. At times making certain changes in your lifestyle can also result in keeping the heart burn away. Staying away from alcohol and wearing loose fitted outfits are some of the simple changes that can be induced in your lifestyle for treating heart burn. Having a good control over your body weight can also be a good way to avoid heart burns because sometimes being overweight can lead to heart burns.
