Acne is a general term used to describe symptoms like pimples, black heads and white heads. It is formed when the pores of the skin are clogged and the skin develops inflamed or non-inflamed lesions. Exposure to sun, high stress levels, climate and seasonal changes are known to be responsible for acne attack. There are several herbal medications and chemotherapies available for treating acne.
It is observed that make-up is the main factor contributing to acne, especially if the cosmetic is oil-based. Oil is the main culprit. It contains fatty acids. These fatty acids block the pores of the skin. Therefore, using an oil free make-up will reduce the risk of acne formation. Cosmetic products containing lanolins, isopropyl myristate, laureth-4, D and C red dyes and sodium lauryl sulphate should be avoided. This is because these components are too rich for the skin. It is necessary to wash your face with a mild soap at least twice a day to remove the make-up from the face. It is necessary to wash the face with clean water at least six to seven times so that the face is clean of the soap water. If possible, reducing the frequency of make-up and eliminating harmful substances used for this would help to prevent formation of acne. In case you are targeted by acne, it is necessary to leave it undisturbed. Do not try to squeeze the pimple or white heads. A pimple is an inflammation by itself and squeezing it will only add to the problem by leading to an infection. A pimple disappears in one to four weeks if left undisturbed. However, you can gently squeeze a pimple to drain the pus, if the pus is yellow in color and is located at the centre of the pimple. Once the pimple is free of pus, it will auto-heal over a small period, leaving no scar. A blackhead gives you the privilege of squeezing it. A blackhead is a highly blocked pore and a gentle squeeze will help you to get rid of it.
Staying out of the sun is a preventive way for acne. It is known that acne medications cause adverse reactions when exposed to sun. On the contrary, if no medication is used to treat the acne, then exposing yourself to sun for a short period of 10 to 20 minutes will prove to be fruitful in treating acne. If you are a dry skinned person suffering from acne, then additional care should be taken when starting the treatment. The treatment is such cases should always begin with low concentration products.
Sleeping is the first medicine that the body needs. Hence an adequate sleep can prevent acne. Exercising is a good way to release the toxins which are responsible for acne formation. It is very important to know that combining treatments for acne will only worsen the situation. Preventing the acne from spreading is yet another important measure. Applying the acne medicine over half an inch around the acne can prevent its spreading. An acne moves from face across the ear, so treating it beyond the affected area is also essential. Do not ignore the unaffected areas.
